A Thankful Heart

November 18, 2019 Family

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just one week away. Though, I probably say that every year. As Thanksgiving approaches, I am trying to savor every moment. As I tackle the prep work that goes into making the season festive, I try to reflect on all the amazing blessings that we have to be thankful for.

Not everyone feels blessed during this Holiday season. There are those that are struggling and my heart goes out to them. We have friends that have experienced great loss of loved ones this year and others that are in great health battles. Some may feel a pressure to be happy when they feel anything but happy right now. My prayer is for a sense of peace in the midst of the storms life brings. In this life we will all face times of sorrow and times of joy. For those of you just trying to tread through this season, I pray for comfort and peace. Remember that you are not alone and you are not a burden. You are valuable and worthy .

My family sometimes teases me for having the Hallmark channel on just about non stop this time of the year. Yes, the movies have the same cheesy plots one after the other. However, that thread of love conquering all and hope in the midst of hopeless situations, makes up for the lack of original content. Because love does conquer all and we do have hope.

For me, I am filled with a thankful heart this Thanksgiving season. We have a growing family this season. We will very soon be welcoming a new grandchild to our family. So I will be thankful for today and try to savor each moment. And as Thanksgiving passes and push is on for all of us to get tied up in a knot in preparation for Christmas, I will remember daily my Thanksgiving mantra to breath in and out giving thanks with a grateful heart.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. May it be filled with peace and love.

Lisa BoundsI live in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of Upstate New York. I'm a mother of four sons and four grandchildren. We have two dogs a cat and a chicken coop full of a variety of hens. Though, I would have a backyard full of zoo animals if it were possible. My handsome husband Matthew, is not only the love of my life, but the official taste tester of all of my baking creations.
